one day at a time...

Hi all! So...just a brief update about Ariel. Although her spirits remain strong, this new chemo has really taken a toll on her physical well being as of late. It truly is disheartening to feel so terrible when her first year of chemo treatments didn't seem to be too taxing on her body. She is feeling extremely nauseous, constant body aches and pain, and is tired the majority of the time. We are doing our best to keep her hydrated, and she will be going in for an IV hydration tomorrow if all goes as planned with insurance. I am with her 24 hrs a day for the most part, and working hard to find things that she can eat and drink without too much difficult.
I am hopeful that this is just a phase, and that although her new chemo treatment is much more hardcore than she is accustomed to, that her body will adjust accordingly and this awful pain will be short lived. Keep your positive thoughts coming, she loves when I read your blog comments aloud to her! I know if means the world that she has all of your support and she will beat this, I just know it!!!
We love you all, and tomorrow is  a brand new day:) Until then we will be at home, laying low, staying positive and focused, and keeping her as rested (and medicated) as possible. xoxo

You are in our prayers and thoughts as well. Ali it is so great that you have had this time to be there for your mother. We heard from Andrew on Sunday and he and Shelley are doing well and enjoying their BIG adventure. I am sure that it is hard for Shelley to be so far away from you at this time Ariel-- but I am sure that Andrew is there for Shelley. You will be in our thoughts for a good day tomorrow.

I am so sad to learn of what you are going thru! I hope that with your positive attitude along with the medications you are taking, you quickly knock the crap out of this thing. I also hope that you begin feeling better each and every day. Thanks so much for the updates.....you will be in my prayers daily. :)

    Love, Sandi

  5. Ok, Ariel, oh great reading queen, now Ali is reading to you! How's that for saying, "I'm a great mom AND a great reading teacher-see my own daughter can read!"
Here's my list of foods I gave Dan-ginger ale, low salt saltines, anything peppermint, Just read about catnip tea-will you meow? Not sure. Maybe roar! Since you are a reading teacher, and I love bunnies and rabbits and hares of all kinds, here is:
    Peter Rabbit's Tea
    2 cups boiling water
1 teaspoon each chamomile flowers and lemon balm leaves
½ teaspoon each catnip leaves and fennel or dill seeds
Pour boiling water over herbs and steep for 10 minutes. Strain out herbs and allow to cool. Sip this tea as needed. Sometimes as little as ¼ cup spells relief.
If you crave carrots or tuna afterwards, or a romp in McGreggor's garden, hmmm.
So, what is the wackiest home remedy you've been given so far?
You are in my prayers, as is your family so you all contiue to be strong. Let me know if there is anything I can do-once in a while I'll be driving by LCH too if you need anything from there. I love the blogs!
